FUNK CLUB - ROSEMOUNT

Funk club is a non-profit association dedicated to developing funk and related genres of music in the name of good times! Having originally formed in Perth, Western Australia, the Funk Club is now a national brand name in the music industry, committed to developing acts and audiences through regular club nights, events and festivals

Funk Club's Move to the Rosemount Hotel

If you like Funk, Soul, Hip Hop, World, Dance or just a good time then few have not heard of Perth's own Funk Club. Having been operating for almost 4 years every Friday upstairs at the Leederville Hotel featuring local and national talent, Funk Club bids farewell to its home and sets sail all the way down the road to the newly re-furbished Rosemount Hotel.

With over 2000 members and events throughout the year Funk Club is taking itself to new heights with the move to the newly refurbished Rosemount, sticking with a similar vibe but with more music, more booze, more room, food, and more fun. Funk Club at the Rosemount will still feature the Funk Club House Band each week and resident DJs Charlie Bucket and Loco Ren but with more guest bands & DJs both local, national and now international. Funk Club is embracing the world and putting up Perth's local bands and their music for the enjoyment and betterment of Perth music fans.

“We’re moving to a venue which is more in-line with what we do and what we’re about” States Jimmy ‘lips’ Murphy – Funk Club honcho and all round nice guy Wink “The Rosemount is completely behind what we do and we’re thankful for this”. Lips goes on to say “With a bigger room, better production, a new warm ‘melbourne-like’ atmosphere and great beer garden, the Rosemount is the perfect choice for a venue up-grade”

The Sunshine Brothers play a hedonistic blend of organic, freestyle dub/reggae.

They have played with interstate and international artists such as The Cat Empire/Fat Freddys Drop/Gomez/Salmonella Dub/Ronni Size/Beautiful Girls/Xavier Rudd/Arrested Development/Bomba/The Waifs/Lily Allen.
The 11 track album ‘Rebel Yellow’ is available nationally through Inertia and will be touring Australia throughout 2007.The Brothers will then be heading to New Zealand in Febuary 2008 to play at the Ragland Reggae Festival and then to Brooklyn New York via Japan and Hawaii to record their brand new album.
Aww yeah! Come Awwwwwwwwwwwwn!

FDEL (LIVE)

Perth’s favorite breaks/hip hop producer FDEL is back with his full band. After releasing his record earlier in 2005, he has had massive success nation wide and now world-wide, recently sighning to UK lable FREESTYLE!! The vibe is now running hotter than ever to see FDEL on the road after a barrage of shows last summer, smashing the east coast and tearing roofs off every venue in W.A and the whole of OZ. Now Fdel has agreed to Funk up Funk Club for their launch at The Rosemount Hotel! We will be sure to see you all there with full party vibes in motion, prepare to get funky!

Funk Club House Band
www.myspace.com/funkclubinc

The Funk Club House Band was formed in 2003 with the main aim of being “the face” of Funk Club, paying tribute to the funk/soul heroes of old whilst spreading the love and good times the music instils. Adopting the ethos of good fun, music to move to and playing to a crowd, the band began to progress rapidly covering all their favourite rare ‘old skool’ funk tunes, producing an exciting funk/jazz sound with visual appeal, but skating away from the traditional “funk” cover bands.
Having released a live compilation CD in 2005 with plans for an Album later this year The Funk Club House Band has supported bands such as The Waifs, Salmonella Dub, The Bamboos, Dexter, Kid Confucius and Bomba coupled with over 3 years as the resident house band at the Funk Club…some describe the Funk Club House Band as an institution unto itself.

Charlie Bucket
www.myspace.com/charliebucket

Charlie Bucket was born in Perth, WA and has dedicated himself to two simple things:
1. The music he loves
2. Having a party.
If it’s a party you want then Charlie Bucket is the guy! His mix-tapes have become local legend and he’s constant touring is quickly gaining fans whenever he plays, his infectious energy being soaked up wherever he travels.
