“Funk for Da Fish”: Music Gig to Promote Marine Sanctuaries for the Southwest

A talented bunch of West Aussie musicians will come together on the 26th of March to ‘Funk for Da Fish’; a fundraiser for Save Our Marine Life. Matt Gresham, The Brow Horn Orchestra, DJ Charlie Bucket and the Funk club house band will pump out their tunes in support of marine protection in our South West.

Where:    Funk Club (upstairs at the Leederville Hotel), corner Oxford and Newcastle St, Leederville

When:    Friday 26th March from 8pm

What:    Music fundraiser run by volunteer team the ‘blue-people” (see attached photo).  All door profits for the Save Our Marine Life campaign.  We are encouraging people to wear something blue to support our unprotected marine life!

Matt Gresham is Perth’s favourite Blues, Roots and Reggae artist. He has been gigging for over 7 years, plays sell out shows every week and has a massive following. http://www.myspace.com/mattgresham

The Brow Horn Orchestra are an eight piece dynamic skatronic jam band. They play an impressive live show that incorporates a carnival vibe with a strong global mix of styles. http://www.myspace.com/thebrowhornorchestra

DJ Charlie Bucket is the resident DJ at the Funk Club and has backed up international acts such as Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada.

Conservation Council Community Campaigner Leah McGovern said, “currently less than 1% of WA’s southwest waters have any protection at all, we need a network of marine sanctuaries to ensure our marine life can survive and thrive. At Funk for Da Fish will be an awesome night as WA artists pump out their tunes in support of marine protection for our Southwest.”

Save Our Marine Life is a growing collaboration of organizations and individuals supporting a network of marine sanctuaries in Commonwealth waters off WA’s southwest coast. More information on the campaign is available at www.saveourmarinelife.org.au
