Randa & The Soul Kingdom get up to get down this friday night!

This 6 piece juggernaut features a tight rhythm & horn section plus powerful vocals that will blow your socks off!!  Get set for the high-energy show, upstairs at the Leederville Hotel for Funk Club, Friday 12th June, doors open 8pm.  Funk Club House Band & Charlie Bucket in support.  $10 entry, $5 for members.

Having supported Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings (USA), The Bamboos (Melb) and Lionel Richie (USA), Randa & The Soul Kingdom have just signed a 2 album worldwide deal with London label Freestyle Records.  Look out for their hot little single ‘Not Gonna Let You’ coming out on vinyl in August.

Perth’s finest deep funk outfit, Randa & The Soul Kingdom have announced that their self-titled debut Album will be released worldwide on Freestyle records later this year. Recently recorded at Melbourne’s famed Shed Studio (home of the Bamboos) and produced by the Bamboos themselves is red hot and has had a lot of interest from the scenes movers and shakers already.

Randa grew up in Perth’s outer suburbs. Doing it hard as a child….her best friend became funk music. By the age of 12 she was talking her way into clubs and getting down to funk believing that one day she would one day make it dancing to the sounds of James Brown, Parliament and Aretha Franklin.  Such was her passion for music that she decided that one day she would grace the stage as a singer inspired by the old-skool sound!

During her 20’s Randa was asked to stay in London to sing with Kinobe who were about to release a single with her. It was then that she joined ‘Speedometer’ and after supporting Eddie Bo began touring with him from New Orleans, where he began passing on his vast musical knowledge about performance and song-writing. Unfortunately September 11 happened not long after and Randa returned to Perth and put began writing and recording with her new band ‘Randa & The Soul Kingdom’

Catch them upstairs at the Leederville Hotel for Funk Club, Friday June 12!
